Design Philosophy

The loudspeakers are almost always the limiting element on the fidelity of a reproduced sound in either studio, home or theater. Once you have chosen a good loudspeaker from a reputable manufacturer and paid a good price for it, you might presume that you would get good sound reproduction from it. But you won’t – not without a good enclosure. Most of today’s studio monitor designs degrade the internal resonance by integrating plate amplifiers and nonessential electronics to the enclosure. They also seem to focus on the visual look of the enclosure, rather than the sound that it is generating. Tone, translation, and transient response are our goals at White Lines Audio, and after 16 years of pro recording we have tried practically every studio monitor on the market in the hopes that we could find a system that would present our mixes realistically and translate those creations to the world at large. In the end we were forced to construct our own studio monitors that are used on a daily basis in our two working rooms at Studio 11 Chicago. Our laboratory is the real world application of our studio work, which we can hear for ourselves at clubs, festivals… even cars and home stereos around the world. Form follows function is our design philosophy, and our studio monitors are crafted to meet those real world ends.

Each White Lines Audio loudspeaker is hand assembled with top quality components in properly tuned enclosures that feature our transcendent circuit design. Our clients are typically exhilarated and shocked by the sonic lucidity and definition upon every listen. We put the bells and whistles, and aesthetics, back where they belong… inside the box! That being said, there is nothing cheap or deluded about these studio monitors. They produce a pure rush of air that is unrivaled in the industry and backed up by quality and sound engineering. We believe we have created the best studio monitor for mixing.
